The ranger was still smiley. “Got a call this mornin’ from some rusticators havin’ a stroll along on the shore. Awful nice folks they were. When they came upon’er, they weren’t even sure if she was a dog, or anything else she might could-be. Thought, better I come down, take a gander.” The ranger took another bite of jerky. “Sure ‘nough. Found your dog.”
